the big O-N-E! (part one)

i think you can guess by the title what this post is about. and you got it! my darling sister is ONE year old today. where does the time go? it honestly feels like she was just born and whisked away to Marquette because of her pneumonia. and now here she is, toddling around and getting into all sorts of mischief.

my baby dolls is just a munch. she knows when to giggle and when to throw a huge tantrum because she isn't getting what she wants. she knows how to act like a "big girl" and she knows how to cuddle and act like a little baby (mainy naptime!). she stands by the door looking out with an occasional cry or whine and stays that way until someone feels bad for her and hauls her outside.

i think i'm into this list stuff, because i will give you 12 things about her. one little fact for each month of her life (they might not be from that exact month. most will be more recent!)

1. she was hospitalized for ten days after she was born.

2. she learned how to crawl around 6 and 7 months. (not exactly sure the age.)

3. she had ear infection after ear infection which eventually led to her getting tubes. they didn't even do the trick. she still has ear infections all the time and is on two allergy meds.

4. she started walking at 11 months.

5. she is very petite for her age, and is just a little tiny thing toddling around.

6. her favorite game to play is peek-a-boo.

7. she LOVES eating. you'd think she would be chunky instead of her tiny little self by the amount of food she consumes each day.

8. she has "her" drawer of storage containers and lids. we call it "her" drawer because she is always digging in it. and she is quite often seen with container and/or lid in hand.

9. after she gets her diaper changed, she likes to throw her own diaper in the garbage. (not always a good thing, other things have somehow found their way into the garbage after she learned that trick.)

10. she still likes her bottle. not a good thing to have her attached to, but it makes her quiet and gets her to sleep mighty quick. (and not that i would ever admit this, but she is awfully adorable with it!)

11. she will NOT fall asleep unless you are sucking on one or multiple fingers. as soon as you snuggle her like a baby, up the fingers come right into your mouth. it's something we've learned to accept and it's just part of her.

12. the biggest thing of all, she has every single one of us wrapped around her little finger. we all love her to bits, her precious giggle, her big blue eyes, just her whole cuddly self. i can't imagine life without her!

and there she was. every inch of her adorable little self. she acts like a one year old and doesn't quite look like one... but she definitely is one year old. we love her to pieces and she is the center of our lives!
