accomplishment!

Saturday found us, Leilani rather, at MTU (Michigan Technological University) for history day. history day is a nation-wide competition which starts with regionals, and advances to state and all the way to nationals. what IS history day!? each year there is a specific theme or category, and you have to pick something from history that fits the theme. you then must research and do a humongous project on it. you can do a website, performance, research paper, documentary (movie/video), or exhibit. Leilani chose to do an exhibit. we HAVE to do it for school, but it's optional at most schools. it really is for your own good, a personal goal that you strive to attain.

Leilani did strive to attain this goal. her goal was to make it to state with her history day project. it all started at the school. people from the community came and judged everything, who then decided which participants would move on to regionals. Leilani was one of them. the day at regionals was a tentative, stressful day for her. she was on her toes and stressing while her exhibit was being judged, and then she nibbled on her food while butterflies danced in her stomach. finally, FINALLY came the ceremony (? is that what it's called?) that announced who would advance to state. we sat on the edge of our seats listening to them as they went through each category naming off people. *clap clap clap* my hands were getting red from slapping each other. at this point, i think i was more nervous than Leilani herself. FINALLY it came to Senior Division Individual Exhibits. "the first to advance is.." and it wasn't Leilani. my heart fell. how could it not be!? the judges loved hers!  then it came. they announced a second name.. "Leilani Johnson!"  i clapped the loudest of all. i know i did! she reached her goal. congratulations to her! (i'm so excited for her. since she advanced, our whole family is going down-state to visit some relatives. exciting! AND we get to go watch her at the next competition.)

here is the celebrity and her exhibit. a quilt! loved it!

and this little doll-face was the only one of the younger kids that came along. the lighting in this place was simply amazing! i loved it! and also, this little missy poo got tubes in her ears today. she was having one ear infection after another, so they finally decided to do tubes. hopefully we will have a much happier baby on our hands!

isn't she just squishable, though!? i just love her to pieces! and her latest thing is giggling. a really high pitch, girly giggle! hopefully she will be my one girly-girl sister. the one that i can take shopping. the one that will spend hours picking out her clothes, as i used to. the one that all the guys think is cute. :)

do you ever notice that i somehow end up changing subjects? i start with Leilani, and end up talking about Seliina. how does that work!?
