photography.

photography is something that i've always enjoyed, but i never thought i would see the day where i would be proud of my work. to become a photographer has always been a little dream tucked away in the back of my mind. maybe someday when i 'grow up' i'd become a photographer, then it would be real! little did i know, that i'd be 'grown up' so quickly. 15 short years into my life, and the near future is holding promise.

here is a little of my camera history. my first camera was a little film camera, and that was back in, ohh, 2002 and it probably cost my mom and dad, say, $15. if even that! then in about 2005 or 2006 we updated cameras, and got our first digital camera. i couldn't believe it! it was so exciting! 3 years ago i got my very own digital camera. it was a kodak and it was a fair sized camera with 12x optical zoom. then i got a little pentax camera, which wasn't the greatest. and then i got the camera i have now. a canon rebel t1i. wowza! what a leap! there was lots to learn about such a camera and the thought of trying to learn it all was a little overwhelming. i thought i would never get to know my camera. little did i know, it wasn't quite as complicated as it seemed. now i know my camera quite well, though i do still have plenty to learn!

not until about a year ago did i actually start composing shots and getting familiar with the photography deal. and, after seeing my shots next to professional photographers shots, i began to wonder how it was done. i tried, tried, and tried some more. i just couldn't get it! frustration and doubt often filled my mind, and i felt like quitting. but i never quit. that camera just kept calling my name. or else it had a special power, a power that could just draw me to it. because i kept picking it up, and taking pictures. and it all has paid off in the end! each day i gain more knowledge, learn a new technique, and with each shot, i gain confidence in myself.

these next few photos are ones that i will keep for a life time. they are the photos that opened the door of realization for me. they opened the door to everything. THESE are the photos that screamed at me, "you can do it! you have potential!"  when i put these pictures on the computer and saw what i had done, i was amazed. i had produced something to be proud of! something I personally could be proud of. wow. they still couldn't compare to professionals, but somehow, i did it! they opened my eyes to a whole new journey in life. something i thought i never would be able to do. but it happened. it's just a small step towards being where i want to get, but it doesn't just happen. no way. it all takes time. time and practice. yes, definitely practice! lots and LOTS of practice! and the practice never ends! (in fact.. i'm hardly started!)

these photos have so much meaning to me. and the day i took them, the lighting was just beautiful. just like the baby in the pictures! by the time this little girl is one, she'll be a pro at this 'posing for a picture' business. getting her picture taken will just be second nature!

i hope that i didn't bore you with that long shpeel.. once i get started, i just rip and roar. literally! at the end my fingers just wanted to keep flying but i told myself 'must stop. now. or else.' that didn't work so then onto the next threat, 'if you don't stop, no one's ever gonna read this blog. never again!'  my fingers were obedient after that. (i heard your sigh of relief. just now. seriously!)
