before&after

most photos i put out on here are edited. some of them have changed drastically (for the better of course), and others were tweaked just a bit. some are more 'professional' looking, while others simply are snapshots.

i used to take all my photos in JPEG format, but then after much nagging from my father and my uncle to shoot in RAW, i decided to try it out. boy am i glad i ever did! i don't think i will ever go back to the 'ol JPEG. when you shoot in JPEG, it (by saying 'it', i mean the camera) formats the color in the image as well as many other things itself before saving to the memory card. whereas RAW is exactly how it sounds, the image is raw. the image is shot and saved exactly how it was shot. the camera didn't do anything to the photo and left it simply how you took it, therefore making for much better editing.

there is so much more you can do/edit on RAW images. you correct the white balance, you can just about do anything and the image will still stay crisp and clear. it takes much more work to do that on a photo shot in JPEG. so i will show you a few of my before and after images. and i know i'm not 'professional' yet, but i'll just show you how i do it.

so there you are. hopefully you aren't 'before and after-ed' out! have a good Monday!
my last drivers ed session is tonight (have my fingers crossed that i pass the test), half days at school on Thursday and Friday, and then Minnesota on Friday after school. can't beat that!

oh.. and this drivers ed? it's segment two. full of statistics and stuff. i have had my permit since June, but now we have to take this segment two, not exactly sure why. but we do.

a person just has to have a RAW program that reads RAW files =P - o' course that can be remedied online, like anything else digital nowadays. Quality programs usually aren't found in third party software, though. But if it gets a person started...
