stairway to heaven. (C.H. part I)

last Saturday we headed up to good 'ol Copper Harbor to meet up with some friends to hike, visit, and grill up some food. what a day!

i've always loved Copper Harbor. it's so separated from the rest of the world, not much there, and it's EXACTLY what you imagine a small town to be. picture perfect if you were to ask me. i'm a small town girl at heart, and if i had to pick a small town around here that is the most small-town like, it would definitely be Copper Harbor. you see, up here in the UP, there is only one small stretch of freeway. and that little stretch is not near us at all, it is more over by the Mackinac Bridge. so nothing close to us! which means that the UP is just  'small town' country in a sense.

anyway. the first thing we did in Copper Harbor was hike. we heard from some friends about this beautiful trail, and so we had to go check it out. and let me tell you, it was breath taking! wowza! and the lighting that day was to die for! was so wishing i had some willing subjects to photograph! but i guess it shouldn't have surprised me that the trail was so beautiful, because the name of the trail is Stairway to Heaven. it truly says it all in the name.

i only have one eeeeeny problem with the trail, it's a biking trail too. and on one side of the trail, it is a pretty steep drop off. AND the trail is narrow the way it is. so meeting a biker on the trail is not fun, especially if there are kids with! in fact, we had barely gotten on the trail when two bikers came blazing by us, FAST. so fast, in fact, that Aleta didn't realize right away and wasn't able to completely move out of the way. therefore, the handlebar of the first biker got her in the back of the head. the biker was so sorry. and thankfully she was okay!

now be prepared to look some photos.

what a beautiful hike. mmm. i could easy go back! anyday! i'm thinking someday in August is sounding mighty fine. maybe a senior session here.. who knows? :)  we'll just have to wait and see!

toodles!

i'll be back with the rest of our Copper Harbor trip soon!

Hey, just curious, but what program do you arrange your photos in? And btw, the first image is probably the most successful (in my eyes, anyway) I also like the one with the dolly passed out on papa's shoulder! (sorry, I don't remember names!)
